About ghostwriting

You may already know what ghostwriting is, but if not, it involves hiring someone else to write something for you.

The someone should hopefully be a professional writer, and the something can range from a book to a screenplay, a song, an article, or even a blog post. Nonfiction books are the most commonly ghostwritten document, but honestly, the sky is the limit.

Ghostwriters help the rich and famous as well as the ordinary say what they want to. And in case you thought ghostwriting was a recent phenomenon, it's been said that ghostwriters (usually scribes) have been plying their trade for thousands of years, penning much scripture (like the Bible) or other historical accounts (like ancient Egyptian records).

But you don't have to be writing scripture to benefit from a ghostwriter. If you have a nonfiction book you want to write, especially if it's a memoir, a business book, or a self-help book, this ghostwriter can help you!

So, what is ghostwriting, has it been around for a while, and what does it cost?

How much does ghostwriting cost?

Ghostwriters tend to be skilled professional writers, and because of this, they charge for their time and effort.

When you hire a ghostwriter to help you write your book, you almost always pay a fee for their service. In other words, almost no ghostwriter works on the hope that the book they help you write will become a bestseller.

It also helps to think of hiring a ghostwriter as an investment. Because of this, you should expect to pay anywhere between $25,000 and $70,000 to hire a ghostwriter to write your book (sometimes more).

Is ghostwriting legal?

The short answer is yes!

Of course, if you are a college student and your teacher expects the paper you write to have been written by you and you only, then hiring a ghostwriter to help you is not ethical, though it's not illegal.

But yes, ghostwriting is both legal and ethical, and I consider the books that I write for my client to be theirs much more than they are mine. Why? Because those books contain my clients' thoughts, experiences, feelings, and wisdom, not mine.

About me, the Denver Ghostwriter

While you naturally want to know who I am and how I came to be this odd thing called a ghostwriter, the biggest info you need is my writing experience and why I consider myself a quality writer.

I have a master's in English literature, I've written books, manuals, software guides, press releases, proposals, white papers, newspaper articles, and blog posts.

I love to write and I love to help others get their message out there.

Before getting into ghostwriting, I spent years as a technical writer and business writer where I was always the go-to writer that others writers looked to for advice. On the personal side, I have a family and love to read and cook.
